Century Group Gets Climate Smart
Century Group is adopting strategies to reduce its carbon footprint as part of Metro Vancouver’s Climate Smart program. Climate Smart, developed and launched by Ecotrust Canada in the Summer of 2009, is designed to provide small- to medium-sized with the resources they need to understand climate change and reduce their impact on the environment by carefully measuring their carbon emissions.
In early October last year, Century Group, along with a dozen other organizations based in Delta, participated in an innovative climate action business session. The Corporation of Delta (who piloted the program in June 2010), along with Metro Vancouver, were host partners for the session, intended to cultivate business leadership, action and innovation around climate change throughout the Lower Mainland. The Province of BC’s goal for the year 2020 is to reduce 2007 greenhouse gas emissions by 33%.
Six participants represented Century Group, each coming from different properties, from the corporate office to our Bria seniors’ communities as well as our Coast Tsawwassen Inn and Browns Socialhouse franchises.
Metro Vancouver has produced a video documentary, which features these properties, our staff, and even residents at The Waterford — our Tsawwassen senior’s community.
